IIIT Kottayam hosts key AI FORA meeting

Kottayam: The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kottayam (IIIT Kottayam) witnessed an insightful discussion on the latest advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) as it hosted the third and final General Partner Meeting of the AI FORA project. The international gathering brought together researchers and practitioners from diverse fields to explore the potential of AI in public service delivery.
Funded by the Volkswagen Foundation, AI FORA is a pioneering international research initiative dedicated to developing responsible AI solutions that align with diverse cultural and social norms. The project involving 11 countries aims to bridge the gap between technical innovation and societal impact.
Experts from the 11 countries shared insights on the latest advancements in AI and its applications in public policy at the 3rd general partner meeting. The participants engaged in discussions on ethical AI, data privacy, and the role of AI in addressing societal challenges involving various policy aspects of social provisions.
Researchers also presented real-world examples of AI-driven solutions that have made a positive impact on communities. The Indian case study was on the public distribution system of Tamil Nadu state, which incorporated agent-based modelling and machine learning approaches in the system.
The meet concluded that cutting-edge digital tools can be effectively used for pedagogical purposes within the humanities. It also highlighted the need for upskilling educators with digital tools that are crucial for non-technical professionals.
