Thiruvananthapuram: The curtains will fall on the 63rd edition of the Kerala School Kalolsavam at Thiruvananthapuram this evening. The valedictory session is set to commence at 5 pm at the main venue, Central Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. Opposition Leader V D Satheesan will inaugurate the ceremony, informed the Education Minister V Sivankutty.

The event will see film stars Tovino Thomas and Asif Ali as special guests while Civil Supplies Minister G R Anil will preside over. Minister Sivankutty will hand over the golden trophy for the winning team and awards for the best media coverage of the previous editions of the Kerala School Kalolsavam and the 2024 State School Sports Meet.

Speaker A N Shamseer will deliver the keynote address. A host of ministers, including K N Balagopal, K Krishnan Kutty, Ramachandran Kadannappally, K B Ganesh Kumar, V N Vasavan, P A Muhammed Riyas, M B Rajesh, P Prasad, Saji Cheriyan, Dr R. Bindu, J Chinchu Rani, O R Kelu, and V Abdurahiman, will participate in the distribution of prizes.

The valedictory ceremony will also honour individuals and groups whose efforts have been instrumental in the success of the festival. Chirayinkeezh Sreekandan Nair, the designer of the coveted golden trophy, will be felicitated, along with Pazhayidom Mohanan Namboothiri, who completes 25 years as the event’s head chef. Members of the Haritha Karma Sena and workers who handled pandal (canopy), light, and sound arrangements will also be recognised for their invaluable contributions.

A total of 78 prizes across various categories will be distributed. The competitions are scheduled to conclude by 2 pm today, with the remaining appeal processes expected to be wrapped up within the following 90 minutes. The golden trophy will arrive at the venue by 4 pm.

To ensure smooth proceedings, traffic in Thiruvananthapuram will be regulated during the valedictory event. Public vehicles will not be allowed entry into the Central Stadium area. Welcome Committee Chairman and Minister G R Anil expressed gratitude to the police and volunteers for managing traffic arrangements efficiently and minimising inconvenience to the public.
