All these and more await research students who wish to do a six-month internship under the Visiting Student Research Programme (VSRP) at the prestigious King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
Opportunities and benefits
The internship opens doors for research students to collaborate with more than 20 world-class partner universities affiliated with KAUST. Degree and postgraduate students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) can apply for this research internship program. Students will receive ample guidance from renowned faculty members and become part of their research fields. Besides more than 100 projects spread across 16 STEM disciplines, the university has launched programs in cybersecurity, environmental science and engineering, earth science and engineering, computer science, and applied mathematics and computation science.
Eligibility criteria
- Education - Undergraduate students pursuing a three-year or longer degree course and postgraduate students.
- GPA - Minimum score of GPA 3.5/4 or 14/20 (ECTS B).
- English proficiency - TOEFL score of 79 and IELTS score of 6.5.
Program duration
The program duration ranges from three to six months, depending on the nature of the research. Applications for the VSRP can be submitted throughout the year.

Application process
- Registration should be made through the students’ email IDs.
- Students will receive an email notification once the preliminary application is approved.
- Submit the required details and documents for a thorough review.
- A university faculty member will contact the applicant for a Zoom meeting to discuss the student’s academic and research background and assess their interest in the internship.
- If selected, an invitation will be sent for a Zoom meeting with the admission officer to provide detailed information about the university.
- A travel advisor will contact the applicant to ensure a hassle-free journey to the university campus.
