Alappuzha: The first-of-its-kind initiative to provide AI training for teachers of 8th - 12th standard classes in the state has got off to a brisk start in the district. The training programme which started on May 2 in four centres has been attended by 315 teachers till now. A total of 4,913 8th - 12th standard teachers are required to receive training in the district.

To accommodate more teachers, it has been decided to expand the training sessions to more centres in the district. The upcoming sessions will be held on May 15-17, 20-22, 23- 25, and 27-29 at SNM Boys HSS Chertala; KITE district office, Alappuzha; Government Girls High School, Haripad; SVHS, Kayamkulam; St John's HSS, Mattam; NS Boys HSS, Mannar; and SMHSS Chambakulam.

The 3-day session requires the teachers to register on the Training Management System on the KITE website to attend. School management has been asked to ensure the registration of those teachers who are yet to receive the training.

The training sessions are being held as part of the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) initiative to train over 80,000 teachers of the 8th-12th standard classes about the responsible usage of AI in schools by August 2024.

The sessions will focus on higher secondary school teachers during May, followed by high school teachers. Training for primary school teachers will be held during the September-December months.
