The National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), in cooperation with the Delhi Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), offers a two-year MSc programme in Hospitality Administration.

The course imparts expert training to open a window of opportunities for interested candidates to be employed as Hotel Management teachers or middle/higher-level managers in the hospitality industry.

A total of 550 seats in 17 Central Government-affiliated institutes of Hotel Management, including in places like Thiruvananthapuram (30 seats), Bengaluru (30), Chennai (30), and Hyderabad (30), are available.

There is no age limit for applying for the course.

The Application fee is Rs 1,000. However, candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste/Tribe, Disabled, and Transgender categories need to pay only Rs 500. The Economically Weaker Section students should pay Rs 700.

Course fee
The first-semester fee will come to Rs 58,200, followed by Rs 47,000 each semester. Students studying at the centres in big cities may have to give an additional amount of up to Rs 25 per cent towards fees. Hostel facilities are available.

The classes will start on August 7.

Admission process
The admission is through two methods, an entrance test (JEE 2023) and direct admission. The candidates attempting both should submit separate applications.

1. Admission through entrance
Those having BSc in Hospitality & Hotel Administration or a Hotel Management degree and final-year students who can produce the certificate before October 31 can apply.

The online applications should be submitted through the website www.nchm.nic.in or www.thims.gov.in before May 10. The same should reach there before May 12.

The online examination will be held from 10 am to 12 noon on May 28 in 17 centres including Thiruvananthapuram. The test will comprise 100 multiple-choice questions of one mark each, and 80 marks will be from Hotel Management subjects and the remaining 20 from Communicative English, Numerical Aptitude, and Logical Reasoning.

The results will be announced on June 5. Reservation is available. The seat allotment, done through four-round counselling, will commence on June 12.

2. Direct admission
Ten per cent of seats in each institute are set aside for direct admission. Those having the above-mentioned degrees with minimum of 55% marks and a minimum two-year experience in hotels with at least three-star ratings will be considered. The selection will be based on the marks obtained in the degree-level examinations.

The candidates should submit online applications through the website www.nchm.nic.in or www.thims.gov.in before April 19. A printout of the online application and copies of the certificates should reach the Noida office before April 21.

The selection of candidates will be intimated to them before May 1. The selected students have to remit fees at the institute, where they get admission, before May 19 and also ensure that the documents are duly verified. There is only a single round for this admission procedure.

Those candidates who become ineligible for direct admission due to inadequate practical experience can apply for admission through the entrance test.
