Students who have cleared Class 12 also can join a top-class management course, thanks to the Indian Institute of Management – Indore (IIM-I), which has invited applications for its Five-Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM).
Students who have passed the Class 12 final exams during the years 2021 and 2022 and those who would be completing the course by July 2023 can now apply for the IIM-I’s five-year management programme. Applicants should not be born before August 1, 2003. However, students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Tribes and differently-abled categories would be given an age relaxation of five years.
No degree required
Normally, leading institutions allow admissions for management programmes only after graduation. In fact, most of the elite management programmes are post-graduate courses. However, IIM-I has created a unique management programme for students who have completed Class 12 based on the principle that early identification of talent and proper guidance would create professionals of better standards in the sector.
While the curriculum of the first three years of the five-year course has been formulated specially by IIM-I, the academic programme of the fourth and fifth years would be the same as the regular post-graduate programme.
Admission process
Interested students can carry out online registration till April 17. The application fee, including Goods and Services Tax (GST), is Rs 4,130. The fee for students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Tribes and differently-abled categories is Rs 2,065.
A two-hour aptitude test will be conducted on June 16 as part of the selection process at 34 centres, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai. The test would have quantitative ability (multiple-choice/ short answer) and verbal ability (multiple-choice) questions. Negative marks will be applied to objective questions.
Candidates securing high scores in the aptitude test will be invited for an interview. Ranks will be decided by giving a weightage for marks scored in the test and interview in the ratio 65:35.
There are 150 seats for Indian citizens in the programme and reservation norms of the Central government will be applied during admission.
Course fee
The fee during the first three years of the course is Rs 5 lakh each year. For the fourth and fifth years, the fee will be the same as that of the post-graduate programme during the corresponding period. Hostel facilities will be provided to all students.
International students applying for the course have to follow some specific guidelines, which are mentioned on the website.
Other institutions offering the programme
The following IIMs also offer the five-year integrated programme in management (IPM): Rohtak, Ranchi, Jammu and Bodhgaya. The preliminary selection at IIM-Ranchi is based on the scores obtained by candidates in the aptitude test conducted by IIM-Indore.
