Alappuzha: The State Institute of Education Technology (SIET) is all set to telecast classes of 21 subjects of the higher secondary, that have not been included in the Victers channel schedule, via Doordarshan.
Subjects, including journalism, anthropology, Islamic history, and electronics services technology, will be telecast via DD4 channel.
Currently, Doordarshan telecasts a 30-minute educational programme, named Pathshala, in the mornings and evenings for high school students. Like this, the higher secondary classes can also be telecast, according to SIET director B Aburaj.
It would take about one week to prepare the classes and for the video recording. And the classes can be started by July first week, he explained.
Talks are being held with the Doordarshan authorities for this and the process of selecting teachers is also underway.
The Victers channel has been telecasting classes on subjects that have been opted by more number of students. However, students, with a rare combination of subjects will be affected due to this. The higher secondary has 46 subject combinations.
No Sanskrit, Urdu, Arabic classes
Complaints are being raised that classes were yet to start for Sanskrit and Arabic subjects for students from class 1 to 11, and for Urdu for class 5 to 11.
Only class 10 has sessions on these subjects. Though teachers in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts were tasked with preparing the classes, they did not get any further instructions.
Around 10 lakh students have opted for these subjects.
Meanwhile, certain language outfits have been facilitating studies through websites.
