Advaid scored 99.97 percentile in the first phase of the two-phased entrance examination for securing eligibility for engineering courses in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). He now plans to take the JEE (Advanced) exam even while giving a shot at the medical entrance.
He is a student of Placid Vidya Vihar Senior Secondary School at Chethipuzha near Changanassery town in Kottayam district.
He joined Placid considering the excellent training available there for entrance examination.
Advaid’s father Dr Rijil Deepak works with the Baby Memorial Hospital at Kozhikode, while mother Dr Darshana is associated with the ENT Hospital in Kozhikode. Advaid has been staying with Darshana's parents Balakrishnan Nair and Rama at a rented house in Chettipuzha for two years.
His younger sister Avantika is a Class-6 student.

What Advaid has to say about his studies:
How did you get interested in JEE?
I was more interested in maths and science subjects. By the time, I reached Class 10, my interest only piqued. My desire to study in the best engineering institute in the country prompted me to write the JEE.
How did you prepare?
I attempted lot of mock tests during the months leading to the exam. I took a break from leisure activities. During school days, I spent around seven hours for studies, but allocated 15 hours during off days.
JEE Advance next
I am preparing for the Plus-Two exam now, though I have set sights on taking the JEE (Advanced) exam. I plan to join the IIT. I am also writing the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) (for undergraduate medical courses). I took part in the Chemistry Olympiad and have been selected for the next stage.
