Air India Express dons Kerala’s own ‘Kasavu’ to ring in the Onam season

Air India Express pays homage to Kerala’s rich cultural heritage by donning the iconic ‘kasavu’ design on its tail. The airline’s brand-new Boeing 737 8 aircraft features beautiful tail art in the traditional kasavu designs. The ‘kasavu’ aircraft landed in Kochi recently as Kerala is gearing up to ring in Onam. Meanwhile, the Air India Express employees, except the cabin crew, wore traditional kasavu outfits to welcome the aircraft. Besides, athapookkalam or floral carpets were arranged on the tarmac under the aircraft’s wings and in front of the check–in counters. The passengers on this flight to Bengaluru were welcomed onboard by gifting them kasavu shawls. Up to 180 passengers could travel in the Boeing 737 – 8 aircraft.

After launching the new brand in October 2023, Air India Express has added 34 brand-new aircraft to its fleet. These aircraft feature tail art representing the traditional fabrics of various states. Kerala’s kasavu, Tamil Nadu’s kanjeevaram, Andhra Pradesh’s kalamkari and Madhya Pradesh’s chanderi are some of the designs that have made their way to Air India Express’ tail art. Meanwhile, Air India Express boasts a fabulous fleet of 85 aircraft. The airline operates 300 weekly services from four airports in Kerala. There are 102 services from Kochi, 63 from Thiruvananthapuram, 86 from Kozhikode and 57 from Kannur.

Direct flights are operated from Kochi to Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Damam, Doha, Mumbai, Muscat, Dubai, Kuwait, Riyadh, Salalah and Sharjah. Besides, there are one-stop services from here to Indian cities like Amritsar, Ayodhya, Bagdogra, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Goa, Guwahati, Gwalior, Indore, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Mangalore, Pune, Ranchi, Srinagar, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayawada, Varanasi, Visakhapatnam as well as to Jeddah.

Air India Express operates 63 weekly services from Thiruvananthapuram to various destinations like Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kannur, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Damam, Doha, Dubai, Muscat, Riyadh and Sharjah. Meanwhile, the one-stop services are to Ayodhya, Bagdogra, Bhubaneshwar, Delhi, Goa, Guwahati, Gwalior, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Ranchi, Surat, Vijayawada, Varanasi, Visakhapatnam, Jeddah and Singapore.

The 86 weekly direct flights from Kozhikode are to Bengaluru, Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Damam, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait, Muscat, Ras Al Khaima, Riyadh, Salalah and Sharjah. Meanwhile, the one-stop services are to Ayodhya, Bagdogra, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Guwahati, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Ranchi, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayawada, Varanasi and Vishakhapatnam. Air India Express operates 57 weekly services from Kannur to various international cities and domestic destinations. The direct flights are to Abu Dhabu, Bahrain, Damam, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait, Muscat, Ras Al Khaima, Riyadh and Sharjah. Meanwhile, there is a one-stop service in Thiruvananthapuram, too.
