Indian passport holders could travel without a visa to 60 countries last year and can visit 62, in 2024. However, the passport, which ranked 84th in the Henley Passport Index in 2023, has dropped one notch again this year to 85th. The Index, which assesses passports based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), ranked France at the top spot in 2024 out of the 194 countries. Its citizens can enjoy visa-free entry to 194 nations. 

Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, Spain, Finland, Netherlands, South Korea, Sweden and Austria are the other top-ranking countries. As for our neighbours, Maldives is at 58, Bhutan is at 92, Myanmar at 97, Sri Lanka at 101, Bangladesh at 102 and Pakistan at 106. Maldivian passport holders can travel to 96 countries without a visa.  The country that comes in the last position in the index is Afghanistan.
