A monsoon tour of mist-covered hill station of Vagamon in Idukki is bound to provide an awe-inspiring experience to the travellers. Presently, winds of change are blowing across the tourism industry and the sector is embracing change with optimism. In a bid to usher in change, the hoteliers have formed a group with an aim to implement exhaustive tourism-related projects in Vagamon and the first event under the aegis of Vagamon Destination Makers will be held on July 18 and 19.
Hundreds of tour operators and travel agencies from different parts of India will be participating in the programme. Moreover, the top travel agencies from various states will be part of the first edition ‘Fam 2 Malabar 500’ programme, a marketing initiative put forward by Kerala Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas. In order to familiarize the travel agencies to Vagamon, they will be taken on a tour to the hill station and the Vagamon Destination Makers will also be holding a B2B tourism meet by joining hands with prominent resorts in the region.
Deliberations and training will be held keeping in view the opportunities and challenges of Vagamon in the tourism sector. Moreover, efforts would be made to attract foreign tourists to Vagamon and create a platform to organize an investor meet to attract investment to this popular tourist destination in Kerala.
