A mile-long crescent-shaped island has emerged from the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the US, near North Carolina’s Cape Point.
According to reports, the sand bar first appeared in spring. The new-found strip of land is being called Shelly Island by the locals. An Instagram user chandoka posted an aerial image of the new island.
However, the authorities have issued warnings asking visitors to keep off from exploring it. There is a heavy riptide between the mainland and the new island. Sharks and huge stingrays have also been spotted in the waters.
