The big fish also get here following the little ones which make fishing relatively easier. Mackerel, Wahoo and Marlin are some of the fish that can be spotted during this time. The month of December marks the onset of the Summer season officially on the Gold Coast. This is the time when fish like blue and Black Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo and Sailfish make themselves visible. January can be termed as the best month for deep-sea fishing tours on the Gold Coast. At the onset of the Winter season, the temperature at the Gold Coast drops to 61 Fahrenheit going up to 77 Fahrenheit. One can spot the beautiful yellowtail kingfish, also known as yellowtail amberjack during this time. In May, the yellowfin tuna and humpback whales come out to play.

It’s ideal to go fishing before sunrise and before sunset. Before leaving the shores, it’s also good to go through a chart of sorts that shows the turn of tides each day. On days when the tides are higher, you will likely hit upon a bounty of fish.
