Craving fresh juice? These are the five must visit places in Kochi

The mercury is soaring. It is that time of the year when you make a beeline for places that dish up something cold and fresh. Rahul N Kutty, who writes on Foodscene and an active member of the EatKochiEat, a foodie group on Facebook lists out five shops that you should not miss while in Kochi.

1) Haji Ali’s

Walk into Kochi's very own version of Haji Ali. And you will be served with fresh juices and snacks. The special falooda of Haji Ali's is one big meal in itself. 'Fruit in fresh cream' is another hit item from here. Haji Ali’s has three outlets in Kochi at Ravipuram, Palarivatom and another one near to Lulu Mall. These outlets are open even late in the night.

2) Buhari Special Juice

Craving for something different and special? Head to Buhari Special Juice. This newbie in town offers a variety of tender coconut drinks and hold on, Kochi's own version of the Kulikki Sarbath. The Boost & tender coconut shake and the badam & tender coconut shake will tickle your taste buds for sure. This place is near old Cheranellor Road near the Lulu Mall. The famous Buhari Hotel chain runs this place which is open till 4am.

3) Rinoos Cool Bar

This small outlet in Mattancherry Pudiya Road is a hot favorite among the people of Kochi. Not much to pick and choose from, but whatever they dish up is worth the drive. Must try are their 'butter fruit (Avocado) shake' and 'shamam (Musk Melon) shake'. Juices are made freshly in front of the customers and no water is added. It’s just the fruit and milk. This place is open till 2am.

4) KKV Cool Drinks

The Pachalam Sarbath Kada is over 70 years old and you can never go wrong about it. Make sure you have a go at their 'ginger lime soda'. Even the soda bottle will fill you with nostalgia – the 'ginger lime soda' is served in the green color codd-neck bottle aka marble soda bottle. The sarbath used to make the juice is homemade and comes for Rs 70 per bottle.

5) Cafe 17

If you are a mojito fan then you can’t miss this place. Cafe 17 at Kathrikadavu Road serves some refreshing mojito’s. 'Water melon and basil mojito', cucumber mint cooler with honey' and 'milk shakes' are the must tries of Cafe 17. This small cafe is open till midnight.
