The island is also famous for its traditional medicine and sorcery. Earlier, political conflicts and the difficulty to reach the island kept tourists away from this pristine place. The populace of the island is a mix of Arabs, who migrated from Oman, and the local Waswahili inhabitants. People visiting Pemba would love to dive and swim in the blue waters and enjoy the beauty of virgin coral reefs. The best time to visit Pemba Island is from November to February.
