Costa joins a long list of players from Spain's La Liga who have been fined for tax evasion, with Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Iker Casillas among those who have previously appeared in court for similar offences.
The ban, which ends Costa’s season as there are only seven games remaining, consists of four games for being found in breach of Article 94 of the league’s code of conduct.
