Hello
Caught by the US when planning a new outrage, Headley was made available to Indian investigators, but his extradition has been firmly ruled out.
Rana's childhood friend, who goes by the name David Coleman Headley, is serving a 35-year sentence after a federal judge convicted him on charges of helping carry out the Mumbai attacks.
The man, identified as Tahawwur Rana, a Pakistani-born Canadian, was accused of allowing terrorist David Headley to open a branch of his Chicago-based immigration law business in Mumbai as a cover story and travel as a representative of the company in Denmark.
The work on the Rs 3,400 crore project, conceived by the then Home Minister P Chidambaram in wake of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks during UPA's second term in the big office, was accelerated after Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently reviewed the progress.
Media reports had said that Headley was attacked by two inmates at a Chicago prison on July 8 and that he was admitted to an intensive care unit of a hospital in the city since then.
The US authorities refused to comment on media reports that Pakistani-American convict in the David Coleman Headley was battling for his life after being attacked by inmates at a detention centre.
