Hello
The CBI arrested Kochhars on December 23, 2022 in connection with the Videocon-ICICI Bank loan case.
A division bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and P K Chavan held that the arrest of Kochhars was in violation of Section 41A of the Code of Criminal Procedure which mandates sending notice for appearance before the police officer concerned.
Former ICICI Bank CEO and MD Chanda Kochhar, her husband Deepak Kochhar, and Videocon group founder Venugopal Dhoot had sought permission to use a chair, special beds, mattresses, pillows, towels, blankets, and bed sheets citing their medical conditions.
Her husband Deepak Kochhar was also taken into custody in the Videocon case.
ED had filed a criminal case against Ms Kochhar, her husband and Venugopal Dhoot of Videocon Group for alleged irregularities and corrupt practices.
While the book value of these assets is Rs 78.15 crore, officials said their market value is about Rs 600 crore.
The ED will record their statements and they will be confronted with the documents the agency has seized.
According to a newspaper report, lookout circulars were issued against the Kochhar couple and Dhoot as a measure of precaution to prevent a repetition of high-profile exits like Vijay Mallya,
Chanda Kochhar said she was 'disappointed, hurt and shocked' by ICICI Bank decision to treat her resignation as a 'termination for cause' after an independent probe indicted her.
It is alleged that Videocon promoter Venugopal Dhoot allegedly invested crores of Rupees in Nupower months after the Videocon group got Rs 3,250 crore as loan from the ICICI Bank in 2012.
