The incident occurred at a subsidiary of the Federal Bank at Arumbakkam in Chennai.
The alarm system and cameras were disabled before the entire gold deposits worth over Rs. 3 crore was stolen from the Marutha Road Cooperative Rural Credit Society at Chandra Nagar in Palakkad.

Kochi City Police Commissioner M P Dinesh said the same gang is suspected in both crimes because of the similarities of the heist.
