On October 5, a tourist bus rammed into a KSRTC bus killing nine and injuring 40 others.
At the time of the accident, the tourist bus was moving at a speed of 97.7 km per hour. The average speed from the trip's start was 84.2 km/hour.
A fine of Rs 87,000 was also levied in connection with the cases. The MVD has so far taken action against 134 contract carriages in the wake of the Vadakkencherry tragedy.
Violating RTO rules, operator fitted excessive amounts of LED lights on all sides of the bus; speed governor was found detached.
KSRTC driver Sumesh too testified that the tourist bus was speeding when it rear-ended the bus.
Minister Antony Raju said that schools should inform the Motor Vehicle Department about their excursion plans.
