Thrissur: A state-level ranking tournament, organised by the Kerala Tennis Association, will be held at the Kinattingal Tennis Club at Puzhakkal, near here, from December 1 to 7.

The competition will be held in eight categories, including men's singles and doubles, women's singles and doubles, and U-18 men's and women's singles and doubles.

The tournament is being conducted in association with the Thrissur Tennis Trust and the Thrissur District Tennis Association. 

Only permanent residents of Kerala are eligible to take part in the tournament which will be held in a knockout format. The matches will be played on three outdoor courts, including a clay surface, and three indoor courts. Some matches will be played under lights, informed the organisers. Balls approved by the All India Tennis Association will be used for the tournament.

Matches will not be held in categories that fail to attract at least eight entries.

The winners in the singles category will be awarded a cash prize of up to Rs 14,000.

Those who are interested to participate are requested to submit their entries before 5 pm on Tuesday (November 29). Registration formalities should be completed between 2 pm and 4 pm on Wednesday.

Chairman P K Mayan, organising secretary John Nechupadam, general secretary Robson Paul, and tournament director M H Muhammed Basheer attended the press conference.
