Vinesh Phogat and sports fans in India will have to wait for three more days to know the outcome of the wrestler's appeal to her disqualification from the Paris 2024 Olympics after the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) deferred its verdict till August 16.

The sporting fraternity and supporters of Phogat have waited for the verdict that was expected to arrive at 9.30 pm on Tuesday.

The CAS said in a release that the president of its Ad Hoc Division has extended the time limit for the panel to give a decision till 18.00 (Paris time), which is 9.30 pm IST on Friday, August 16.

Phogat had been disqualified ahead of her gold medal bout with eventual winner Sarah Hildebrandt of the United States as she was found 100 gm heavier than the prescribed limit during the mandatory weigh-in.

She appealed to CAS demanding her right to a joint silver with Cuban Guzman Lopez, whom she had defeated in the semifinals.
