Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram clinched the women's and men's titles respetively at the 48th state junior basketball championship in in Palakkad on Wednesday.

In the women's final, Ernakulam defeated Thrissur 53-47 while in the men's final, Thiruvananthapuram edged Thrissur 61-58.

Kozhikode and Kottayam secured bronze medals in the women's and men's categories respectively.

Amanda Maria Rocha of Ernakulam and Anwin George Joseph of Thiruvananthapuram were adjudged the Most Valuable Players.

Women: Ernakulum 53 (Amanda Maria Rocha 17, Laya Maria Antony 12) bt Thrissur 47 (Liya Antony 20, Helen Joy 10)

Men: Thiruvananthapuram 61 (Anwin George Joseph 28, Niranjan L R 11) bt Thrissur 58 (Niyukuth Salil 22, B Vinay Sankar 16)
