Thrissur Magic suffered a second defeat of Super League Kerala with Thiruvananthapuram Kombans posting a 2-0 win at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium in the capital city on Monday.
Magic led by former India international C K Vineeth had lost their opener 1-2 to Kannur Warriors last week. The Kombans drew their season opener 1-1 with Calicut FC.
At home, however, the Kombans found their rhythm, and both goals came from crosses. The first was a diving header from Vishnu T M of captain Patrick Mota's corner in the 15th minute.
Lalhmangaihsanga made it 2-0 in the 69th minute. He scored at full stretch after a beautiful cross was headed onto his path at the near post.
The Kombans could have scored at least two more in the dying moments, but substitutes Davi Cardoso Kuhn and Ganesan missed. Brazilian Kuhn worked his way into the box from the left wing and attempted to curl it in but placed the shot wide. Ganesan was unmarked in the box when Kuhn's touch found him, but the striker, too, misfired.
