Kozhikode: A construction worker from Kozhikode who was injured in a petrol bomb attack at Ottappalam here breathed his last on Saturday. Vishnu Manikkoth Meethal (27) from North Ulloor in Ulliyeri here succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College hospital in Thrissur. According to hospital sources, he passed away in the early hours of Saturday while undergoing treatment. His co-worker, Priyesh from Balussery, also sustained injuries in the petrol bomb attack. He was discharged from the hospital as his condition improved. 

Vishnu was among a team of tile workers who went to Chunangad in Ottappalam, Palakkad for a work of a pond adjacent to a house under construction.

In the early hours of January 13, a petrol bomb was reportedly hurled against the workers by a neighbour. As per reports, the labourers were asleep on the sit-out of the house under construction. 

Police arrested Manayankathu Neeraj in connection with the incident and a court here remanded him in judicial custody. In his statement to the police, he claimed that he committed the crime as the workers used to ridicule him.

The mortal remains of Vishnu will be handed over to his family after an autopsy at the Thrissur Govt. Medical College Hospital. He is survived by his father Krishnan, mother Pushpa and sister Priyanka.
