Malayala Manorama's 'Hridayapoorvam' project, a lifeline for Kerala, is celebrating its silver jubilee on Monday, marking 25 years of service and 2,500 free heart surgeries since its inception.

Launched in 1999 with the mission of facilitating 50 heart surgeries in collaboration with the Madras Medical Mission, the initiative has transcended its original goal and become an integral part of the lives of countless Malayalees.

As part of the jubilee celebrations, a state-wide marathon was held on Sunday across all districts—the event aimed to spread the message of World Heart Day and inspire people to prioritise heart health.

Since its launch in 1999, Hridayapoorvam has been a lifeline for underprivileged heart patients, offering free examinations and life-saving surgeries. Over the past 25 years, the initiative has conducted 82 free heart check-up camps and facilitated 2,500 free heart surgeries across Kerala. Remarkably, 1,500 of these surgeries have been performed on children.
