Kochi: The police on Monday arrested a man for posting obscene comments against Malayalam actor Honey Rose on social media. The arrested individual, identified as Shaji, a native of Kumbalam, faces charges alongside 30 others following the actor’s complaint regarding offensive remarks on her social media post.

The comments, posted under a Facebook update by Honey Rose, were deemed highly offensive and disrespectful. In her post, the actor accused an individual of defaming her and subsequently lodged a complaint with the Ernakulam Central Police on Sunday night. The police have invoked provisions concerning obscene remarks, which carry a potential penalty of up to one year in prison or a fine.

In her Facebook post, Honey Rose cautioned against the use of double meanings and ridiculing women online. She noted that while such comments are often dismissed as the work of disturbed individuals, she had decided to pursue legal action in this case.

The actor also revealed she had been personally insulted during an event, prompting her to avoid future functions organised by the individual responsible. She alleged that this person had deliberately used social media to defame her and undermine her dignity after her decision to disengage from their events.
