Alappuzha: A man was hacked to death by his in-laws on Wednesday night at Arookutty, Alappuzha. The victim, Riyas, 36, son of Ashraf and a native of Ward 6, Arookutty, was attacked at his friend Nibu's house around 8 pm.

According to the police, Riyas’s father-in-law Nazar, 62, and brother-in-law Ranish, 35, arrived at Nibu's house knowing Riyas was there. A heated argument over family issues escalated into violence, during which the accused attacked Riyas with sharp weapons, inflicting fatal injuries to his head, hands, and legs.

Riyas succumbed to his injuries before police reached the scene. He is survived by his mother, Rasheeda, wife, Raneesha, and three children.

Both accused have been arrested and charged with murder, but the weapons used in the crime are yet to be recovered. Police said that the suspects would be presented in court on Friday.
