Kannur: The Thalassery Sessions Court in Kannur has given relaxations in the bail conditions of CPM leader and former president of Kannur District Panchayat P P Divya in the case related to the suicide of Additional District Magistrate (ADM) K Naveen Babu. As per the order issued by the court on Wednesday, Divya can travel outside the Kannur district and take part in meetings of the district panchayat.

In a relief for the CPM leader, the court ruled that she no longer needs to appear before the investigating officer every Monday. Instead, she is only required to report before the officer only when summoned.

Divya was released from jail on November 8 after the court granted her bail in the case.

Naveen Babu was found dead in his official quarters in Kannur on October 15, with reports suggesting he took his own life following public humiliation during his farewell event on October 14. Former Kannur District Panchayat president PP Divya had accused Naveen Babu of corruption for allegedly delaying the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NoC) for a fuel outlet.
