CPM orders to dissolve SFI unit in TVM University College

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM has given orders to dissolve the unit of its students' wing SFI at Thiruvananthapuram University College. The state leadership of the party has given directions to the SFI state committee in this regard.
Manorama News reported that the action was taken over the alleged assault on a differently abled student. Four SFI activists were booked in connection with the incident that took place on December 2. The Cantonment Police registered the case against Amal Chand, Midhun, Alan Jamal and Vidhu Uday.
As per the case, Konniyoor native Muhammad Anas, a second-year degree student, was allegedly attacked inside the torture room for not following SFI leaders' orders on campus. The case is registered under various sections, including the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act.
In his statement to police, Anas said that one of the accused stomped on his leg with disabilities and threatened to chop off it. The members of the students' outfit attacked him with an iron rod, he told the police.
