Kozhikode: At least Rs 25 lakh was allegedly stolen from a car at Kattil Peedika, in Kozhikode, on Saturday. The money was intended to be deposited in an ATM.

According to the car driver Suhail, a native of Payyoli, a gang of two—including a woman—requested a ride in his car at Kurudimukku, near Arikkulam. When he stopped the vehicle, the duo sprinkled chilli powder in his eyes and took control of the car. He added that the accused fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle at Kattil Peedika.

Natives, hearing Suhail’s cries, came to the spot and found him inside the car with his hands tied. Koyilandy Police reached the scene and took Suhail and his vehicle into custody. Suhail told cops that he works as a representative of a private company which supports filling cash in ATMs. He was later taken to the Koyilandy Taluk Hospital for a medical examination before returning to the incident location for evidence collection.
