Thrissur: Health Minister Veena George has ordered the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights to investigate the reported eviction of a schoolgirl from a private bus in Thiruvilwamala, here. The minister directed the commission to take necessary legal action if the allegations were proven in their investigation.

The sixth-grade girl faced this ordeal while returning home from school. According to the girl, the conductor evicted her from the bus two kilometres away from her destination because she didn't have the Rs 5 he demanded, even though the government-prescribed concession fare for students travelling to Kattukkulkam was only Rs 2.

“The conductor evicted me from the bus at Pattiparambu. I tried to contact my father by borrowing a mobile phone from a person at the bus stop, but he didn't answer my call. Later, another person gave me Rs 5, and I managed to get home by boarding another bus," the girl told Manorama News.
The girl's father has filed a police complaint against the bus workers over the incident.
