Chengannur: A 10-year-old boy, hailing from Assam, wandered through the streets of Chengannur on Sunday for more than an hour after his father entered a bar hotel by leaving him outside. Finally, the police traced the boy after an intensive search lasting for one-and-a-half-hour.

The boy, who had no idea about the town routes and didn't know Malayalam, walked through the streets in search of his father.

The incident came to public attention when the boy's mother, who was admitted to the District Hospital here for delivery, cried for help, saying that her son was missing from the hospital.

The hospital authorities apprised the police of the matter. A police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Dr R Jose traced the boy later from the town.

According to the police, the native of Assam took the boy along with him to the town without informing his wife, who is undergoing treatment at the hospital. Later, he entered the bar hotel by keeping his son outside.
