Kerala govt approves Sports Minister Abdurahiman's treatment in US

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Sports Minister V Abdurahiman is set to fly to the US for advanced medical care. A state government order approving the trip has been issued.
The travel nod is valid from December 26, 2021, to Jan 15, 2022. Even though the minister's health condition is unknown, the state will bear the expenses of the trip and treatment.
He will be undergoing treatment in the outpatient centre of The Johns Hopkins Hospital in New York.
Abdurahiman is the legislator representing the Tanur assembly constituency. He had defeated Youth League leader PK Firoz by 985 votes in the 2021 state polls.
Earlier, Abdurahiman was with the Congress party. He was a member of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee and vice-chairman of the Tirur Municipality.
He made his maiden entry as a member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly in 2016. He then contested as an independent backed by the CPM. Before that, he had severed his ties with Congress.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Abdurahiman contested as an independent backed by the Left from the Ponnani seat after his ties with Congress soured.
