Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has penned a touching note on his visually challenged pet dog, Scooby.

The senior Congress leader put up the post about his pet on Facebook, just days after a dog was tied to a moving car and dragged along the road in Kochi.

He also shared some pictures of himself with the pet dog.

Chennithala said that his younger son Ramith had brought the dog, Scooby, home.

"The dog quickly became friendly with us but we realised that it was blind only later. We were initially saddened by this, but we loved Scooby more and kept it close to us. But Scooby overcomes the disability with its sharp hearing and strong sense of smell,” Chennithala wrote on Facebook.

“Dogs love their masters more than themselves,” he added. Chennithala concluded his post with an appeal that the world is not just for humans and we need to accept that these animals too have a claim over it.

Facebook users lavished praises on the senior Congress leader after his post on 'Scooby'.

While Congress legislator V T Balram posted "You are so humane, Rameshji", activist Jazla Madasseri said "though there are political differences, these words deserve love from the heart."

Without hiding his excitement, Nelson Joseph, a FB user, said "wow..that's a touching story."

Premkumar, another Facebook user, wished Chennithala could continue to do such good things and expressed hope that he could pen more such nice words.
