Kozhikode: A young US-based Keralite engineer killed himself by jumping into a river here.
Police claim he was frustrated over the continuing ban on overseas flights owing to the COVID-19 pandemic that prevented him from reporting back for work.
The deceased is Saras Chandran, a native of Kozhikode.
Police suspect he was upset over the prolonged delay in going back to the US.
Saras had left home on Saturday morning saying he was proceeding to his brother's shop at Kurudimukku.
A police complaint was lodged as he didn't return that day. In the subsequent search, his passport and suicide note were found on the banks of Mutthambi river.
The body was found on Monday morning after a search by the Police and Fire and Rescue Brigade.
The deceased's wife, Shibla, is an MD student in the US. The couple has a 5-year-old son.
The three had arrived together from the US.
