TRINS holds drama fest, proceeds for social activities

Thiruvananthapuram: Trivandrum International School (TRINS) staged its second drama fest for its primary section on Friday. The event held at the Greenfield Convention Centre, Karyavattom, saw the participation of students of grades 1 to 5. They put up a grand show based on the Disney's musical adaptation of “Aladdin” .
The event, titled TRINS BROADWAY, was open for the public and the proceeds from the ticket sales went to to infant care centre, Ammathottil, for expenses on purchasing medicines, food and renovating play area for the inmates there. The school takes up such social outreach initiatives as compassion, empathy and social awareness are the foundations of its guiding philosophy. Students are constantly encouraged to reflect on their role as discerning members of society.
The school organises teaching of communicative English to students of three local government school, its staff spends time at Karunalaya Old Age Home, Attingal, supplies food material at the Regional Cancer Centre and diapers to Ward 9 of the General Hospital. Last year it constructed toilets at a village in Attapadi, sponsored a student’s higher education and provided wheel chairs to the general hospital.
The Government Care Home at Pulayanarkotta is another beneficiary of the proceeds from the Broadway. It plans to use the money to purchase two suction apparatus and one oxygen cylinder with trolley. An educational scholarship is also being given to a meritorious student, Harikrishnan of Higher Secondary School, Thonakkal.
