Neenu's father twice visited Kevin's home with proposal

Kottayam: Murdered youth Kevin's father Joseph revealed that Neenu's father Chacko, who is one of the main accused in the case, had approached him twice to talk about a possible marriage alliance between Kevin and Neenu.

Joseph, who runs a small two-wheeler workshop near SH Mount, said Kevin had hinted a few months ago that he was in a relationship with a girl, but the latter didn’t speak about the matter again.

Last Friday, Chacko reached Joseph's workshop and gave his consent for the wedding between Kevin and Neenu since the two were in love. He also enquired where Neenu was. Chacko left when Joseph told him he had not seen Neenu. Joseph said he even invited Chacko to his home to talk about the proposal. The next day, a policeman who is also Joseph's friend called him and asked to reach the police station urgently as a case had been registered against Kevin for allegedly kidnapping a girl.

When Joseph reached the Gandhinagar police station, Kevin and Neenu too had been summoned by the police. Kevin's father alleged that the police officers were not even ready to take a look at the documents of the couple's marriage application.

At the police station, Chacko tried to take Neenu forcefully with him, but gave up when Neenu protested with loud wails and said that she wished to leave with Kevin. The police then allowed the girl to leave with her fiance after procuring a written affirmation from the couple.

Joseph added that after the above-mentioned episode at the police station, Chacko and his son Shanu, the prime accused in the case, again reached his workshop and said, "Everything is sorted out".

Later Joseph reached the house in Mannanam from where Kevin and Anish were abducted in the early hours on Sunday after the neighbours informed him about the incident.
