Thiruvananthapuram: Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) director NC Asthana is moving to the national capital on central deputation, leaving the top post vacant.
It was learnt that he was likely to be appointed the additional director-general of the BSF. The LDF government received the order on Wednesday.
Dr Asthana, a 1986 batch IPS officer of the Kerala cadre, was in February appointed the Vigilance chief. He had replaced Loknath Behera.
Before Behera, Jacob Thomas headed the VACB but was asked to go on leave by Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan in March 2017. It was said that Jacob Thomas invited the wrath of the CPM leadership by strongly pursuing cases involving former industries minister EP Jayarajan and sports council president TP Dasan. State police chief Loknath Behera was then given the additional charge of Vigilance director.
