Thiruvananthapuram: Bureaucrat Divya S Iyer has been given the clean chit by her superior regarding a land deal at Kuttichal panchayat in the district. District collector K Vasuki, in a report to the revenue department, said that the former Thiruvananthapuram sub-collector Divya S Iyer had followed the guidelines as per the rules and she didn't transfer any government land to any individual.
Onmanorama has a copy of the report submitted by the collector.
On the basis of a complaint filed by Kuttichal panchayat that Divya transferred 83 cents of government land to a Congress supporter, the revenue minister had ordered an inquiry to be conducted by the collector.
The sub-collector had in fact asked the person who had been claiming the land for decades to pay the market price for the land. This was as per the land assignment rules. Since the person did not pay up and instead approached the court, the land was not been assigned to anybody, the report stated.
The report submitted to the revenue secretary will be handed over to the revenue minister.
The collector's report raises doubts over the intention of the LDF administration of Kuttichal panchayat in filing the complaint against Divya, who is the wife of Congress MLA K S Sabarinathan, who represents the Aruvikkara constituency in the legislative assembly. The panchayat raised its objection only in 2017 in a case that began in 2010.
Divya was also embroiled in another land transfer row about the transfer of a government land to a private individual in Varkala. Divya was transferred from the sub-collector's post after the CPM district leadership sought action against her for this transfer. She was shifted to the post of deputy secretary in the local self-government department on Wednesday in a decision taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by the chief minister.
