Thiruvananthapuram: Commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, Christians across Kerala observed Good Friday with the believers thronging churches in large numbers to attend special prayers and services.

Depicting the final hours of Christ, 'way of the cross' processions were taken out under the aegis of various parishes across the state.

Bearing symbolic wooden crosses, devotees walked several kilometres.

Thousands of pilgrims carrying heavy wooden crosses trekked to St Thomas church, located atop the hillock at Malayattoor in Ernakulam, believed to have been sanctified by the visit of apostle St Thomas, who preached the message of Christ in India.

Special 'Good Friday' services were held at all major churches.
