Thrissur: Noted environmental activist and director of the Chalakudy River Research Centre Dr A Latha died of cancer at her residence here on Thursday. She was 51.
Latha had resigned from her job of agriculture officer and dedicated herself for the green cause.
She had been leading a campaign against Athirappilly hydro-electric project for more than two decades.
She also led several protests for the protection of rivers including river Pathrakadavu.
The green activist also wrote several books to raise awareness on environmental issues - Tragedy of Commons, The Kerala Experience in River Linking and Dying Rivers.
