Kochi: Three people have been arrested for allegedly selling ganja in cinema-TV serial shooting locations in the city, the police said on Wednesday.
The men arrested, in their early 20s, had links with ganja smuggling rackets based in Odisha, they said. They had allegedly procured ganja directly from farmers engaged in its cultivation with the help of Maoists in forests of Odisha's Rayagada district bordering Andhra, the police said.
Investigations were on both the identify the source of supply and customers in the shooting locations here, they added.
There had been widespread allegations that ganja and mood-altering psychotropic substances were high on demand in the film and television field. A young and upcoming film actor was arrested by the police for possessing crack cocaine. The police and narcotics enforcement were also reportedly monitoring some film personalities who reportedly had links with Goa-based drug-cartels.
