Pro-Dileep campaign reaches the doorsteps of police, warns of the star’s ‘royal reentry’ Dileep

Aluva: Social media is not the only arena where Dileep haters and fans slug it out. The police team investigating the sexual assault of a Malayalam actress in February was surprised to see a large banner put up bang opposite the Aluva Police Club, where the actor was held for questioning.

The banner, atop a vacant house adjacent to the police club, offers support to Dileep until he is pronounced guilty by a court. “You can tease him, boo him, but be prepared for his royal re-entry," the message read.

The banner stands out amid a sea of posters put up by the local unit of the DYFI against Dileep and local legislator Anwar Sadath.

DYFI block secretary Rajeev Zacharia said that the banner was an attempt by Dileep’s supporters to counter his association’s campaign and to boost the morale of the actor in police custody.

The DYFI posters feature Dileep and Sadath and ask what the Congress leader has to do with the disgraced actor. They also challenge the MLA to show his passport to the people, alleging that he had gone abroad multiple times since his election last year.

The association has demanded a probe into the financial deals by a group including the actor and the politician.

Sadath had earlier said that he had called up Dileep a day after the actress was attacked, to invite him for a program. He said they had indeed talked about the crime and Dileep swore by Lord Siva that he had nothing to do with the case.

Sadath and a couple of MLAs from the treasury benches had come under the scanner for their alleged involvement with Dileep.

Dileep fans and supporters have come out in support of the actor after the initial shock. The police suspect that a professional PR team is behind the massive wave of support online. Some of the forwards even try to intimidate the police and the media reporting on the case.
