Alappuzha: Union minister of state for drinking water and sanitation, Ramesh Chandappa Jigajinagi, on Sunday said that the Center's controversial ban on cattle trade will not be withdrawn.

"We worship cows. No matter which state objects, we will bring the law into effect," said the minister who was in Alappuzha for NDA's anniversary celebrations on Sunday.

The minister was reacting to Kerala government's strong opposition to the gazette notification banning sale of cattle for slaughter through animal markets.

Speaking at the function, BJP leader C.K. Padmanabhan accused the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government of using the attack on Sitaram Yechury as a political weapon. "The Sangh Parivar has no connection to the fringe outfit that attacked Yechury in Delhi,” he said.
