The demolition of illegal flats in Kochi's Maradu has left behind 75,000 tonnes of concrete debris. Concrete and rebars will be separated so that they can be used again. The concrete waste is converted into m-sand. For this purpose, Australian company Rubble Master's mobile crusher was brought to Kerala from Chennai. This is for the first time the machine will be coming to Kerala.

The 20 ft long machine is designed to break down the concrete, shear the rebar and separate it magnetically. An excavator is used to feed concrete waste into the machine, which comes out as m-sand. Run using diesel, the machine is reportedly low on pollution and has a price tag of Rs 4 crore.
