Renault is set to come out with an MUV based on its best-seller Kwid. Based on a modified version of the Kwid’s CMF-A platform, Renault has christened the vehicle Triber, which will hit showrooms in July this year. The manufacturer has also released the sketch of the upcoming vehicle which will carry a price tag of around Rs 5.3 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.
Though it might have some similarities with the Kwid, the Triber will be an all-new vehicle from Renault. The carmaker will be trying to provide it the best looks in the segment, a la Kwid. It could feature a big bonnet, LED daytime running lights, a large grille, and a beautiful rear, among others.
One can also expect dual-tone interiors, touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking sensors and reverse camera. Dual airbags, side airbags and speed warning system will augment safety.
The Triber will have three rows of seats. Under the hood, the Triber will get a more powerful variant of the Kwid's 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. The vehicle will also have an AMT variant.
With the Triber, Renault is aiming to create a new segment and avoid any competition from other vehicles currently available in the market.
