To fulfil your dreams is no mean task, especially in a world where most people would sacrifice their aspirations half-way through due to a host of circumstances.

Divya Shyam is an aberration in that context-she dared to dream and achieve it against odds. She dared to weave her own wishes into the dreams one sees after getting married. From her childhood, Divya had a fixation for fashion. That passion for fashion is what propelled Divya as Mrs Kerala First runner-up now. Divya unravels her passion for fashion and her dreams to Manorama Online.

Dreams that flourished
Divya is a merchant of dreams. As she grew up, her dreams began to rise manifold. When she saw roadside merchants in her childhood, she aspired to be like them. With age, she realised that she shouldn’t stick to a particular thing, which meant her dreams multiplied. That is how she dealt with her dreams.

Hard work
In 2022 also, Divya participated in Mrs Kerala contest. She had reached the finale then. She got immense motivation and was able to ward away her negatives while participating in it. She put in hard effort for that as she realised there was no substitute to hard work, and that it pays.

RJ, fashion
Divya started her career as a Radio Jockey. She is into anchoring even now. She is also fond of working  in media and fashion designing. From her childhood, Divya was always keen to get decked up– she was present wherever there was a mirror hanging on the wall. Wearing good clothes and designing her own clothing are her passions. That is probably why she is now a part of such a pageant. Divya is into many designer and fashion shows.

Pillars of strength
Divya’s family, especially her husband and daughter, are her pillars of strength. They backed her to the hilt when she expressed her desire to be part of such a show. When she failed to get crowned in 2023, it was her hubby and daughter who were more disappointed.

When she won accolades this year, what she liked most was the delight in her daughter’s face, though it was only later that she came to know about her expressions and tension when the contest was on. They were very happy that she made it.

Divya’s daughter is an eighth standard student. She says her daughter is a proud student who now flaunts her mom’s success in school. She is also inclined to fashion, though she now has set sights on becoming a Collector and preparing for the IAS. Divya hardly interferes in her daughter’s interests, leaving her to choose her calling.

Modelling company
Divya’s aspirations have not halted with a glittering show at the pageant. She is a YouTuber and a beauty blogger. She aspired to set up a modelling company even before she participated in the Mrs Kerala pageant. She is spending time on research for the project.
