Chicago: Jovina Joy becomes the first Malayali woman to be part of the village police force at Carol Stream, a suburb near Chicago. She is the daughter of Kadiyammpally Joy and Veronica who reside at Des Plaines. Jovina took over the charge at the Carol Stream police station, on 21st December, after undergoing rigorous training for 3 months. She has also worked part time, for more than two years, at the Park Ridge and Morten grove police stations.

More than the impressive remuneration and the dignity associated with the profession, it was her desire to serve the society which inspired Jovina to choose a career in the police force. She firmly believes that a police officer’s life should be dedicated to ensure justice, peace and safety in the society. She had rightly chosen sociology and criminal justice as her main subjects in the university.
