The video of a well-built policeman with impressively big biceps climbing Sabarimala's Pathinettampadi has been going viral on social media for the past few days. The star of the video is Kochi native Dayalal KD, a 32-year-old civil police officer from Kochi's Tripunithura Police camp. Dayalal, who is also a passionate bodybuilder for the past 16 years, was on his first ever Sabarimala duty when he casually captured the video for his social media page.
Within no time, it crossed 1 million views and people are quite curious to discover more about this four-time Mr Kerala Police title winner. "I understood that people noticed the video, when devotees and Sabarimala staff started striking conversations with me, saying they watched the video and liked it," says Dayalal, who joined the police force in 2020.
Preparation for world meet
The bodybuilder is also gearing up to take part in the World Police Meet which is to be held in the US in June, 2025. "It's Kerala's first-time participation in the meet," explains the cop, who has been following a special diet without oil, salt or even masala, as part of the preparation. That's when he was assigned the 10-day Sabarimala duty. "It's not possible to follow a bodybuilder's diet while on duty here. I just portion-control whatever food is available here, include as much of fruits possible, and manage my diet. I can switch back to my original diet only once back home," he explains. However, he still doesn't compromise on the workout. "I do workouts like pushups while in the room in which we stay, and also go for walks when not in duty," explains Dayalal.
Pursuing a dream
The police officer nurtures the dream of winning medals for Kerala and India, at the world meet. "I wish to inspire the upcoming generation and the sportsmen in Kerala police by performing well in the world meet. We have a good team in Kerala police and we hope to do well in future meets too," explains Dayalal.
